If you met following problems when Origin tried to launch R

Origin crashes when try to launch R and pops up a warning message as below

Origin launches an old version of R though I have installed a newer version of R on my computer

Solution

It is because you have set a Windows environmental variable named R_HOME in your Windows Registry. Please follow instructions below to delete the variable.

  1. Exit Origin if it is running.
  2. In Windows Search, search for "advanced system settings" (without quotes) and open View advanced system settings (Control Panel).
  3. In the System Properties dialog, select the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the Environment Variables... button.
  5. Remove the R_HOME from either User variables or System variables.
