4.1.4 Splitting Workbooks into New Books

Origin has a tool for splitting workbooks into new, single-sheet workbooks. You can split the active workbook; all workbooks in the active (Project Explorer) folder; all workbooks in the active folder and subfolders; all open workbooks in the active folder; or all workbooks in the project. All new workbooks are added to the main project folder. The wsplit_book dialog box uses the wsplit_book X-Function.

To open this dialog box:

Activate the workbook.
Click Restructure: Split Workbooks... and open the wsplit_book dialog box.

Dialog Options

Split	Active Book Split the active workbook. All in Active Folder Split all workbooks in the active folder. All in Active Folder (Recursive) Split all workbooks in the active folder and subfolders. All in Active Folder (Open) Split only open workbooks (not minimized, not hidden) in the active folder All in Project Split all workbooks in the project.
Split Mode	Duplicate Create a new book/sheet from each sheet in the workbook (you can opt to keep the original workbook or delete it -- see Keep Source Workbook). Drag Keep the workbook window with the original worksheet but tear all other sheets out of the workbook to create new sheets/books.
Keep Source Workbook	Keep the source workbook intact. Otherwise the source workbook is deleted.
Rename Book Name with Sheet Name	Use the worksheet Short Name for the new book Short Name. Special characters and spaces are stripped out.
Match Options	Key String Search at NONE Workbook Long Name Workbook Short Name Workbook Comments *Key String (like:"?ook")** Enter a search string. Wildcard characters "?" (single characters) and "*" (multiple characters) are supported.
