15.3.4.4 The Fitting Function Builder


The Fitting Function Builder provides a user-friendly wizard to guide you through the steps of creating or editing a fitting function.

Each page of the wizard contains two panels. The left panel offers relevant hints and examples. The right panel offers options for customizing your user-defined function. Click the or button to hide or show the left panel.


There are several ways to open the Fitting Function Builder:


Note that while you can create and edit functions with the , the Builder's wizard interface makes it much easier. When using the Fitting Function Builder, you can set options in all wizard pages, or skip pages and leave defaults.

NOTE:
  • If you want to define a peak function to use in Peak Analyzer, you must put the peak function in PFW category.
  • If you want to define a function to fit your baseline ( OriginPro ) in Peak Analyzer, you must put the user-defined function into the Baseline category.
  • If you want to define a peak function available in or , the user-defined peak function needs to be moved to the Peak Functions category.
  • If you want to define an implicit fitting function to be used in , you must put the user-defined function into the Implicit category.
  • If you want to define a surface fitting function to be used in , you must put the user-defined function into the Surface Fitting category.
  • If your function isn't defined in the above categories, you can go to Tools: Fitting Function Organizer. Move or share your functions to the above categories.
