2.61 Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling

Summary

The Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling(nMDS) app is used to transform multidimensional data into lower dimensional representation. Bray-Curtis matrix is used as dissimilarity matrix.

Tutorial

1. Right-click on the Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling icon from the Apps panel, and select Show Sample Folder to open the sample folder.
2. Open nMDS_Sample.opju in the sample folder.

   

3. This example contains data of 30 species across 20 sites. Highlight Column A in the Sheet1 of Book1, then click on Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling icon to open the dialog. Column A will be set as Labels.

   

4. In the dialog, select Column 2 to 31 as Data Range. Confirm that Number of Dimensions is 2, Wisconsin Double Standardization and Output Graph options are checked. Click Ok Button.

   

5. You will show the similarities of different sites, data is transformed to 2-dimensional space.
